Speculations

Today, I woke up and went on a long walk. I got a big old water bottle out, and headed out the door. As I was walking, I headed farther and farther into isolation. I stepped away for a moment from the daily routine, the people, the anger on the internet, the pointing fingers of everyone. I enjoyed silence for a short while, walking down a bike trail out in the middle of nowhere. Thoughts filled my head.

Human beings in general worry way too much. More than we’d ever need to. We’re pushed back and forth by our jobs, our families, society. Government. In a way, everybody wants a piece of you because they can’t have a piece of themselves. You have to serve their interests, their creeds, their ideologies, otherwise you’re labelled as a complete jerk or a moron.

In the countryside today, I was reminded of forgotten beauty. Silence, beautiful weather. Water. All I need right now. Taking in the momentary beauty that is nature. It’s all transient, all pleasure and brilliance in a fraction of a fraction of a second. Face it, it’s not gonna be there forever. No matter what environmentalists say, everything will die out someday on this heaping rock. We die, you die. It’s part of life. The only thing we really worry about in the aspect of death is the fact that we have no idea what happens next. As writer Mitch Albom wrote, “Death is a great equalizer.”, which is true. It is the one thing that we human beings can truly bank on happening. In our lives, the young and old need to understand that it’s natural. Happens to the best and worst of us. Therefore, there’s no reason to worry about it anymore if it’s natural. Rather than just focusing on what happens afterwards, or what happened years ago, why not just focus on what’s happening right now, and enjoy it for what it is?

Take in everything. Look at the weeds, the flowers, the plants. The people. In a way, they’re all the same thing. Doesn’t matter which is which, it’s alive. Cling to it, the warm center of everything. It’s the reminder that you’re still alive, and a reminder that in the mechanisms of everything, life is worth it.

“But liek trannies are grosse.”

Explosion in 3…2…1.

Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

I can’t stand this kind of mentality, I deal with close-minded things like this every day. I was surfing around my favourite website, Linsux.org, when I found a post that kind of grinded my gears. To be fair, he’s a newer user, and therefore doesn’t grab offensive satire like the older members do. Let’s examine the post in detail.

“yeah probably some retarded orphan or something. Or he would of gotten arrested for  punching his transvestite hooker he paid for because “She” didn’t have a big enough dick.”

I initially let this one slide. We were making fun of Roy Schestowitz, founder of alarmist tightwad site Boycott Novell. There are literally hundreds of sick perverted rumors about the man, and Linsux is all about degrading BN’s staff. However, “Captain Cool” as he is referred to, went on to make this statement.

“what? Being a tranny is gross, and what makes the cop thing gross is that the cop obviously didn’t want to be felt up, since he was arrested for it. I wasn’t making fun of gay people. And fine, if you don’t feel like being my friend, then DON’T tell me about your day, I was just being nice.”

There is a certain line of satire that you don’t cross, and that is it. You can, for example, say “Roy gargles semen every night through his nose through a big black transvestite named Joe Smackmyass.”

It’s vulgar, but specialised. If this imaginary fact were true, it would only offend two people. However, the opposite effect is had when you discriminate seriously against an entire group of people. “Captain Cool” did that by stating that the transgender lifestyle is “gross”. Although he didn’t mean anything by it, and later apologised, I would like to take a moment to analyse the larger problem.

Transgendered people, and sometimes their romantic counterparts, have to deal with an awful lot of discrimination, from just about everybody. We have to first deal with the horrors of coming out to our families, and stating our attractions. When I came out to my mother and father the beginning of this year, I had to deal with copious amounts of stress. Discussions between me and my father have never quite been the same, with it finally ending in a pretty terrible falling out stemming from his refusal to attend my graduation because “I wasn’t expecting things to turn out this way.”

My mother has been more accepting of me, but there are times where I can perceive an occasional struggle. Sometimes she’ll ask a question about my ex’s anatomy that can be kind of embarrassing to explain. After all, who wants to ever explain to their mother the details of how they have sex? Likewise, I would think that no mother would want to know. Then again, the unusual nature of it requires a certain amount of curiosity, I suppose.

But it is that sheer disgust that people hold for transgenders, homosexuals, and others that I fail to understand. We had to deal with coming out to our families, and friends. Some of us were outed to our entire communities, and had to deal with it in school. You try going to school everyday with the reputation of “sissy” “faggot” or “shemale”, try living with the labels. Then live with the jokes that appear in mainstream media, and watch as the majority continues to laugh at those jokes without considering your feelings.

I just have to ask, why? What did we ever do to you? Why are we even

disgusting to you? We have the same organs, so to speak. Skin, mouth, hair, eyes, lungs, brain, blood, heart, and so on. This is just representative of a great barrier held up by people who fail to understand that they are not so different from one another. They will deny it their entire lives, they’ll scream it till their dying day. They will degrade you, step on you, and judge you forever.

The truth is far different than everyone believes, though. For every dissenter, for every person that stepped on you, there is someone who loves you for who you are. So, start loving people for the way they are.

“Hatred stirs up strife, but Love covers all offenses.”

-Proverbs 10:12

“It is not good for humans to be alone.”

-Genesis 2:18

“Above all, love each other deeply, because Love covers a multitude of sins.” -I Peter 4:8
